Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Planning: Conduct thorough wound evaluations (size, depth, drainage) and create individualized care plans.
Direct Care: Perform cleaning, dressing changes, apply advanced therapies (like negative pressure wound therapy), and potentially debridement.
Education: Teach residents, families, and staff about wound prevention (especially pressure ulcers), proper skin care, and infection control.
Collaboration: Work with physicians, therapists, and other nurses to optimize treatment.
Documentation: Meticulously chart wound status, interventions, and progress, crucial for Medicare/compliance.
Quality Improvement: Participate in performance improvement, tracking data, and implementing best practices.
Supply Management: Ensure proper wound care products are available.

Pressure Injury Prevention: A major focus, involving risk assessment and preventative strategies for bed-bound residents.
Essential Skills
