The Pediatric Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides specialized nursing care for children recovering from outpatient procedures and surgeries, focusing on monitoring anesthesia recovery and educating families before their safe return home. The team cares for patients with GI, ENT, urology and hematology conditions, assists with procedures and ensures safety, comfort and support for patients and families. This fast‑paced, rewarding environment emphasizes compassionate, patient‑centered care. As an RN in the Outpatient Pediatric PACU, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey, interact directly with patients and their families, and provide healthcare education as needed.

The Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well‑Being prioritizes caregiver safety, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources.

Role Summary This is a regular PRN position with caregivers working days varying between 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 a.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services.

Assess patients, complete nursing assessments, document findings, and notify physicians of abnormal findings.

Perform telephone triage and call rotations.

Perform nursing procedures and administer treatments and medications.

Establish care plans in collaboration with patients, families and the healthcare team.

Coordinate ongoing care, identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning.

Evaluate, initiate and maintain standards of care.

Educate patients and families.

Cover other nursing roles in the department.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN or BSN program).

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through AHA within 6 months of hire.

One year of recent experience as an RN or licensed RN with at least 2 years of LPN experience within the same Cleveland Clinic procedural department.

Preferred Qualifications

BSN (Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing).

Two years of recent experience as an RN.

One year of critical care experience in a hospital setting.

Physical Requirements

Full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye‑hand coordination.

Standing and walking for extensive periods.

Corrected hearing and vision to normal range.

Exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.

Medium work – exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

Physical demands exceed those for light work.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Minimum hourly: $41.00

Maximum hourly: $41.00
