Registered Nurse Supervisor A

Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:
Three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A bachelor's degree in nursing plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A master's degree in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A doctorate in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

Job Duties:
Provides supervision and evaluation of lower level nursing staff for assigned multi-area homes across programs.
Completes Performance Evaluation System annual and mid-year evaluations on subordinate employees.
Ensures subordinates receive required training, orientation and are informed of policy and procedure changes.
Responsible for implementation of established policies/procedures of PSSC, Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities and Louisiana Department of Health making sure all employees and activities are in compliance. Confers with RN Manager in coordinating nursing activities with other program and department activities.
Performs advanced nursing duties in a clinical specialty for individuals requiring intensive and specialized nursing care which focuses on the achievement, maintenance and/or restoration of optimal functioning and to maintain or improve their quality of life and ensures people have the best possible health.
Aids in the development and evaluation of nursing/health care plan for effectiveness and institutes necessary adjustments.
Instructs, directs and demonstrates nursing care and treatment for acute and chronic injury or illnesses in accordance with the established protocols and standards of care.
Provides specialized supervisory duties, including, but not limited to: nursing rounds, medication pass observations, annual competency nursing check offs, quarterly quality chart audits, narcotic compliance through reconciliations, coordinates with other supervisors to schedule staff and adjust according to staffing requirements, coordination of nurse accompany for off campus appointments, coordinates and completes medical Enhanced Supervision request, provides nursing education, ensures participation in Day Program activities, and ensures all safety meetings/fire drills are completed accurately and timely.
Prepares reports and analyses as requested. Prepares staffing schedules. Submits staff nurse schedules to RN Manager in allotted time frame.
Evaluates and makes recommendations for equipment repair and/or supplies.
Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type:
This position may be filled by Detail to Special Duty, Probation, Promotion, Demotion, or Lateral Transfer. Preference may be given to permanent classified employees of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.
Work Schedule:
Night B-Team
Compensation:
This position has a Special Entrance Rate of $39.12/hr. and is eligible for premium pay of $10.00/hr. This position also receives Shift Differential, Longevity Pay, and Additional Pay options.
