Machine Technician Level I
Location: Union, East Longmeadow, MA, US. Shift: 2nd & 3rd Shift. Employment: Full Time. Direct Labor ELM. Requisition ID: 2085. Salary Range: $18.00 to $22.00 hourly. Job Description: The Machine Technician Level I is a multi–functional, entry‑level position that requires mechanical ability. Responsibilities include setup, operation, basic troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance for cost‑center equipment. The technician must read and understand equipment operation manuals and QSAMs, and accurately complete shop‑floor paperwork on time. Focus on safety and quality while learning to work as a team member supporting the flow of production. The technician must communicate effectively with other team members, cross‑functional teams, and management. In addition, the technician may be required to perform other duties as needed, including but not limited to material handling, Utility Assembler tasks, 5S, and inter‑departmental support per daily production requirements. Progression: Once a Machine Technician Level I has demonstrated competency at the Level I tasks, training for Machine Technician Level II requirements will begin. The technician will learn to set up, operate, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on a traditional line or high‑speed line wrappers under the supervision of a trained Machine Technician. They will then be evaluated based on their knowledge and ability to maintain productivity and quality levels while operating the wrappers. When the Level II candidate has been O/J signed off on the equipment and has met all criteria, including the Core Values, the candidate will be eligible for promotion to Machine Technician II.
