Plumbing Shop Assistant Supervisor (Facilities & Real Estate) We are seeking a Plumbing Shop Assistant Supervisor to lead our shop team, manage work orders, and ensure efficient plumbing, HVAC, and electrical maintenance across the campus.

Responsibilities

Report to the Supervisor or other senior managers as required.

Liaise between the Supervisor and other employees.

Provide direction to staff whenever the supervisor is off‑site.

Inspect contracted work as needed.

Review all work orders before and after completion.

Provide mentoring/training to staff members.

Assist in hiring and training new employees.

Develop training materials and conduct training sessions and workshops.

Monitor both individual and team job performance metrics through Maximo (CMMS) and inform supervisors of completed and outstanding work orders.

Provide staff with technical guidance and assistance.

Relay productivity concerns to the Supervisor.

Prepare work schedules.

Assist with other administrative tasks when required.

Attend and participate in meetings regarding work to be done; attend training classes.

Be available to respond to emergency needs 24/7 as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or general education equivalent. Certifications or a professional license preferred.

Six years' experience in the indicated field, including 2 years' experience in a similar supervisor/lead role.

Journeymen License (HVAC, Plumbing or Electrical) required.

Experience with liaising between management and employees.

Valid driver's license.

Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Technical Qualifications & Specialized Certifications

Comprehensive knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in installing, repairing, and maintaining equipment in the licensed trade.

Comprehensive knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.

Ability to prepare estimates and order materials for maintenance and repair jobs.

Ability to exercise independent judgment in determining operating conditions.

Ability to plan, lay out, supervise, and inspect the work of subordinates.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.

Knowledge of energy management systems.

Ability to read blueprints and thrive in a construction environment.

Proficiency in monitoring and reporting job performance metrics.

Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and Excel (Microsoft products).

Exceptional ability to motivate employees and foster teamwork.

Physical Requirements

Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.

Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Classified Title: HVAC Asst Shop Supervisor

Starting Salary Range: $50,440 – $88,400 Annually (Commensurate with experience)

Employee group: Full Time

Schedule: Monday – Friday
