Roadway Design Engineer – Charlotte, NC (Remote) We are seeking an experienced

Roadway Design Engineer

to support and grow our Transportation Practice in our

Charlotte, NC

office. The role is open to fully remote candidates located in North Carolina.

Compensation & Benefits Annual Compensation:

$90,000–$125,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

Job Function: Strategy/Planning and Information Technology

Essential Functions

Perform engineering design tasks for roadway projects from preliminary to final design.

Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages.

Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans, including cross sections, traffic control, drainage, and signing and pavement markings plans.

Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers.

Additional Responsibilities and Duties

Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and scheduling performance.

Identify schedule and cost variance and develop/implement recommendations for corrective action.

Actively participate and serve in leadership positions in transportation‑related organizations such as ASHE, ASCE, DBIA, etc.

Other duties as assigned.

Education & Credentials

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.

Professional Engineer (PE) preferred. Successful candidates will have their PE or the ability to obtain PE within 1 year of hire.

Qualifications

4+ years of progressive engineering experience with broad knowledge and experience in transportation and roadway design.

Experience working with DOT design projects required; experience with NCDOT or ODOT is a plus.

MicroStation, Geopak, and OpenRoads Designer (ORD) design software experience preferred.
