The Mechanical Enclosure Design Engineer is responsible for developing and designing electronic enclosures for use with aero gas turbine engines. The Engineer ensures the enclosure definition meets the project requirements from concept through qualification testing.
Job Description
The Engineer supports both local Rolls‑Royce Corporation and global engine programs. Responsibilities include involvement at any project stage—initial brief, design and development, prototype testing, and final manufacture/implementation of new products or systems. The role typically works in project teams with colleagues from other engineering branches.
Hybrid Work Schedule
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule allowing for remote and in‑office days each week. Hybrid arrangements are subject to change based on business needs or policy. All hybrid employees must have a secure, high‑speed internet connection and an appropriate workspace complying with information security and confidentiality requirements.
What You Will Be Doing
Perform component trade studies for new and existing hardware, create and review functional and physical interfaces, and generate analysis requirements for enclosures.
Collaborate with electronics engineering to develop enclosures that jointly meet electrical and mechanical requirements and guidelines.
Support creation of detailed drawings, model‑based definition, and support project/manufacturing to procure conforming hardware.
Orchestrate technical reviews/design reviews and communicate solutions with the project/customer: develop technical presentations and reports in the delivery of solutions.
Assure compliance with applicable product certification requirements (e.g., RTCA/DO‑160, MIL‑STD‑810).

Basic Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 1+ year of design experience
Master's degree in Engineering
PhD in Engineering
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Preferred Requirements
3+ years of experience in electronic enclosure design.
Experience using computer‑aided design and analysis tools such as Siemens NX and ANSYS.
Familiarity with cross‑discipline engineering concepts including manufacturing engineering, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, thermal and mechanical analysis.
Knowledge of aero‑gas turbine control systems.
Experience with Siemens NX design tools.
Familiarity with design processes and component testing.
