Swim Lesson Instructor (or Instructor Aide)

In this role, you will work in the water and assist in conducting aquatic instruction for members and participants. You will provide support and encouragement to help students learn to swim while ensuring safety and cleanliness of the pool area and adherence to all YMCA Aquatic Safety Standards.
Following employment, the Greater Philadelphia YMCA will cover the cost of the required training and training hours needed to secure YMCA Swim Lesson Certification. Successful completion of this certification will result in increased compensation.

Requirements
Must be at least 15 years old and successfully complete a swimming skills test.
Must pursue YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification, CPR, First Aid, Oxygen, and Lifeguarding.
Responsibilities
Provide a safe environment that allows members and participants to learn to swim.
Encourage and support students to provide an enjoyable aquatics experience.
Evaluate swimming skills; complete progress reports for each session; complete communications for parents.
Participate as a part of the aquatics staff team in providing a safe and enjoyable environment.
Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
