ABOUT THE ROLE The Staff Accountant II supports the accounting function by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, conducting analyses, supporting month‑end close activities, and contributing to a range of operational accounting projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare monthly account reconciliations and recurring journal entries

Analyze general ledger accounts on a regular basis

Perform monthly reporting and accounting close duties for the function

Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages

Assist with journal entries, analytics, and close activities within set deadlines

Provide invoicing support for contract‑related transactions

Apply appropriate accounting principles and ensure compliance with SOX, GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory standards

Coordinate and prepare rate and tariff filings according to regulations

Analyze current processes and recommend efficiency improvements

Participate in special projects and provide cross‑functional accounting support

Prepare audit schedules and provide supporting documentation

Assist with budget preparation

Support acquisition‑related accounting and system integration

Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

2–5 years of experience in an Accounting role

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Energy industry experience is preferred

OTHER SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

Ability to work with moderate autonomy and manage basic accounting tasks independently

Basic understanding of accounting principles, systems, and processes

Understanding of technical accounting concepts at a foundational level

Ability to coach less experienced team members on basic accounting concepts

Comfort working with some ambiguity and tasks of moderate complexity

Ability to contribute to reports and presentations

Strong communication skills and the ability to participate constructively in group settings

Willingness to respectfully share differing perspectives while collaborating effectively

Basic understanding of business operations and the ability to build internal networks

Moderate problem‑solving capability with limited‑impact risk

Demonstrated teamwork and ability to work efficiently across the accounting function

PHYSICAL & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Ability to move within the office environment to access files and equipment

Frequent communication with internal and external stakeholders required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Ability to meet essential job functions safely and successfully in alignment with ADA, FMLA, and other standards

Ability to maintain reliable, punctual attendance

Compliance with all personnel policies
