Job Description
The lead for Scientific Information Resource Management is responsible for the strategic direction of AbbVie's EKA (Library) global portfolio of published information resources. The role oversees AbbVie's Content Value Cycle, which assesses licensed content and data through ongoing evaluation of resources to ensure content investments deliver measurable benefits for research. The lead will help drive business decisions and knowledge integration through this evaluation process. Additional responsibilities include developing vendor strategies to fulfill external information needs across all AbbVie divisions, managing contracts, the information resource portfolio, and relationships with key stakeholders. Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on the usage and impact of resources and services are essential to inform AbbVie's content strategy and optimize portfolio performance. This role advances AbbVie's EKA team's ability to proactively manage scientific information resources. Close collaboration with Legal and Procurement functions ensures effective processes and contractual compliance for licensed resources.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the global Scientific Information Resource process, including strategic vendor and license/content management, copyright licensing consultation, and measurement of resource and service metrics.
Develop long‑term vendor management strategies with key information providers to maximize value and ensure consistently high‑quality information at equitable prices for the organization.
Define strategies to enhance value‑based outcomes with vendors.
Oversee contractual compliance for licensed resources and ensure adherence to international copyright laws to protect AbbVie’s interests.
Define AI/LLM user‑right strategies/compliance by understanding the current AI/LLM environment, staying informed on latest trends, capabilities, and limitations of AI‑driven tools and the use of scientific content; identify current and emerging business needs and evaluate alternative technology solutions using information systems methodologies and best practices.
Lead cross‑functional initiatives to assess information needs, analyze findings, and advise on the best solution for integrated information services.
Measure and analyze usage of SRMO resources and services to support content strategy and efficient portfolio management.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, working with other functional leads to translate these into actions that support operational efficiency.
Provide strategic support to the SRMO leads through active participation and proactive contributions to leadership activities.
Build and sustain a productive and intellectually challenging work environment that delivers high‑quality services.
Comply with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree with 7 years of experience; Master’s Degree with 6 years of experience; PhD with 2 years of experience.
Innovative mindset, adaptability, collaborative skills, attention to detail, and strategic thinking.
Experience reviewing, negotiating, and executing agreements with publishers and vendors.
Knowledge of recent advancements and trends in generative AI technologies.
Proven expertise in vendor negotiation and relationship management.
Preferred:
Library Science, Information Science, or Life Sciences experience.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location; the Company may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
