Rotating - 08 Hour (United States of America). Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Stanford Health Care’s (SHC) mission is to heal humanity through science and compassion, one patient at a time. The Food Services Department is a talented team of culinary and food service professionals devoted to offering patients, visitors, and staff a premium dining experience through locally sourced, sustainable food to support healing and wellness. Relief Food Service Worker’s starting pay is $31.90 an hour. We are looking for the following relief positions:
Dishwashers
– Responsibilities: Washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans, and cleaning and maintaining the dish room areas and equipment.
Porters
– Responsibilities: Cleaning the back-of-house kitchen area and kitchen equipment.
Production Workers
– Responsibilities: Preparing cold food items from standardized menus, recipes, and verbal instructions. This includes chopping, cutting, making sandwiches, wraps, salads, smoothies, and grab-and-go items.
Retail Café Workers
– Responsibilities: Cashier duties, serving hot and cold food, stocking and maintaining grab-and-go food items, preparation of specialty coffee drinks, and other barista functions. Also, maintaining a small dish room and cleaning the dining area.
Tray Passers
– Responsibilities: Preparing, assembling, and delivering patient trays in a timely and sanitary manner, with a strong focus on providing excellent customer service.
A Relief Position does not have a set schedule, guaranteed hours, or benefits. While Relief employees may be included on the work schedule released every two weeks, many of their hours will come from a supervisor’s same-day call to come into work when needed. Relief employees must be available to work at least one day a weekend and two days during the week (for Tray Passers only, both weekend days and at least one day during the week).
After passing competency checks, Relief employees are eligible to apply for Part-Time or Full-Time Food Service Worker positions, which have guaranteed hours and full benefits. All frontline Food Service Workers start as Relief Workers.

A Brief Overview Under the direction of the Food Service Managers and Supervisors is responsible for preparation, assembly, and distribution/delivery of patient trays, retail and catering services, and other food related services in a timely and sanitary manner while focusing on a consistently high level of customer service. Maintains dish room, washes dishes, utensils, pots and pans. Removes and disposes of trash and cleans and maintains food service areas as directed.

What you will do
Adheres to all food handling procedures according to Joint Commission, local health department and all other regulatory standards as required.
Assembles nourishment's accurately per diet order.
Assembles patient trays in a timely and accurate manner.
Assists in the orderly cleanup activities of the tray line and kitchen as required.
Check trays for missing or special write-in items. Follows up on absent items.
Communicates effectively to achieve desired outcomes and maintains positive working relationships.
Conforms to policies regarding dress code, use of Paid Time Off (PTO), time sheets, philosophy, etc.
Contributes to cost containment by managing time and supplies so that assignments are completed as scheduled and resources are not wasted.
Delivers late trays, new patient trays, special requests and floor stock per department parameters.
Delivers trays to patients per established schedule.
