Position Summary The Family Training Coordinator will provide leadership and coordination for training, credentialing, and technical assistance within the Family and Youth Support and Education Program. The role includes developing trainings and certifications aligned with national standards, engaging partners, and fostering family capacity.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Tasks
Family Peer Specialist Training, Credentialing, and Technical Assistance Coordination (60%)
Develop and sustain a training and credentialing curriculum for Family Support Partners, Family Navigators, and Family Partner Coordinators.
Provide workshops on the mental health needs of children and youth with serious emotional disturbance (SED) in partnership with local family organizations.
Support development of parent/family support providers, including training and credentialing.
Coordinate and provide training and technical assistance to grassroots family and youth‑driven recovery support service organizations on topics such as organizational development, nonprofit management, community development, business practices, services financing, respite care, sustainability, leadership development, and recovery programming.
Build Family Capacity (20%)
Identify and link families to partners across the state to address identified needs.
Develop peer support networks across the state.
Develop leadership and advocacy skills among families.
Link families with state networks representing adult and youth mental health consumers.
Program Outreach and Information Dissemination (10%)
Develop and update content monthly and disseminate information via program website and electronic newsletters, integrating information from ongoing technical assistance and collaboration with key partners such as SAMHSA, NC DMH/DD/SAS, and the System of Care Collaborative.
Statewide Needs Assessment to Inform Program Goals and Evaluation
Collaborate with the PI to develop content for the statewide needs assessment.
Conduct stakeholder interviews and focus groups.
Collaborate with the evaluator to translate quantitative and qualitative data into goals and objectives and to develop ongoing program evaluation.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Relevant lived experience related to personal and/or caregiving/family experience with a Serious Emotional Disturbance for at least 12 months.
Experience working in some form of paid or unpaid Youth/Family Peer Specialist, Navigator, Partner, or similar role.
Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication, organization, and cross‑agency collaboration and coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified or eligible to be certified as a Certified Family Peer Specialist™.
Experience in a leadership role related to Youth and/or Family Peer Support and/or Education.
