Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor based in Flint, MI, with flexibility for some remote work. The SUD Counselor will be responsible for providing counseling services, conducting assessments, developing and managing individualized treatment plans, and supporting participants to achieve their recovery goals. The role involves facilitating group therapy sessions, maintaining accurate client records, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure effective treatment and care. The counselor will also provide education on addiction and coping strategies, acting as a guide and advocate for participants throughout their recovery journeys.
Qualifications
Clinical skills such as counseling, client assessment, and the ability to create and implement individualized treatment plans
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively support participants and collaborate with team members
Proficiency in record-keeping, reporting, and maintaining confidentiality
Knowledge of addiction, recovery principles, and practices in substance use disorders
Ability to lead group therapy sessions and educate clients on addiction and coping strategies
Relevant certifications (e.g., CADC or similar credential) and experience in counseling or social work
Compassionate, patient, and motivated to support individuals on their recovery journey
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Addiction Studies, Psychology, or a related field
