The Electrical Power Generation Field Technician (EPG Field Tech) II – Rotational is responsible for providing high quality repair service on equipment, responding to customer needs in a positive, caring and timely manner, and ensuring maximum value for work performed. This position is a rotational role with a typical schedule of 14 days on followed by 7 days off. The technician must travel to and lodge at the assigned work location for the duration of each 14‑day assignment.

What You’ll Do

Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot problems and provide recommendations for repairs; perform critical machine and engine repairs and adjustments, and report details to the service dispatcher.

Follow all documented CSA processes and guidelines.

Follow Caterpillar guidelines for engine overhead measurements and adjustments within six weeks of hire.

Generate service reports, obtain required oil samples, and complete inspections on the job site; leave a copy of paperwork with the customer.

Submit service reports and inspections to dispatchers within 24–48 hours of completing the work.

Adhere to company and customer safety and contamination procedures, including MSHA guidelines for mining applications.

What You’ll Need

High school diploma or GED; and/or three to five years of related experience and/or training.

Preferably an AA in Applied Diesel Technology.

Flexibility to work overtime as required and to fit the rotational schedule.

Clean driving record and requirement to obtain a CDL license within 90 days.

Successful completion of the Work Steps Assessment.

Certification to operate forklift and/or man lift before duty.

Completion of arc‑flash training certification.

Completion of all EPG Level II training and/or demonstrated performance.

Typical tenure at this level is 24–48 months.

May need to pass a DOT physical.

H2S, MSHA, and lock‑out/tag‑out certifications as required.

The work environment is usually moderate in noise level. Required travel can be up to 100%. This position is safety‑sensitive and subject to change as employer needs evolve.
