Job Summary The Career Services Senior Coordinator supports the mission of the Office of Professional Development and Career Services by providing comprehensive career guidance and professional development opportunities for students and alumni of Kentucky State University. This position develops, plans, coordinates, and implements programs, services, and events that prepare students for internships, employment, and continued professional success. The Senior Coordinator works collaboratively with faculty, staff, employers, and builds relationships with external partners to enhance career readiness and increase employment opportunities.
Essential Job Functions
Develop stakeholder relationships, coordinate, and deliver career development programs, workshops, and presentations for campus community (students, faculty, and alumni).
Build partnerships among employers, industry representatives, and campus stakeholders to create career opportunities and strengthen employer engagement.
Coordinate career‑related events including career fairs, employer visits, internship programs, and networking sessions.
Provide individual and group career advising on topics such as job search strategies, résumé and cover letter development, interview preparation, and professional etiquette.
Plan and execute, collaboratively across the University community, short‑ and long‑term departmental goals, programs, and events.
Maintain and report accurate data related to job placements, internships, and employer partnerships; contribute to periodic placement and outcomes.
Participate in outreach initiatives to increase awareness of Career Services programs and resources.
Collaborate with university departments and industry organizations to prepare students to meet industry demands.
Monitor and track student participation and engagement in career development programs (including but not limited to Thoro10) to inform assessment and continuous improvement efforts.
Support grant‑related activities, reporting, and documentation for Career Services projects as assigned.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required
Knowledge of career development principles, student advising, and employment readiness best practices.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills to effectively engage students, employers, and campus partners.
Ability to plan, organize, and implement multiple projects and events simultaneously.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with career management systems or databases.
Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Skills in managing administrative tasks including budget tracking and reporting.
Supervisory Responsibility This position does not have supervisory responsibility.
Other Duties Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in business, educational administration, counseling, college student personnel, or a related field.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in career planning, professional development, or related higher education work.
Working Conditions Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment. No or very limited physical effort is required. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
