Department : Business Development Reports To : Site Director FLSA Status : Non Exempt
Description A Senior Field Service Technician is responsible for providing service and customer support during field visits or dispatches. This individual must be able to apply mechanical and electrical/pneumatic knowledge to build and test industrial tooling systems according to engineering data. Applying a working knowledge of mechanical and electrical/pneumatic principles as well as the ability to understand wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications is required.
Responsibilities
Managing all on‑site installation, repair, maintenance, and test tasks
Able to perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance
Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions
Interpret 2D drawings of mechanical and controls assembly, including control wiring diagrams and pneumatic control logic diagrams; electrical wiring diagram familiarity is essential
Support, install, troubleshoot, and validate systems which include pneumatics, servos, VFDs, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, pushbuttons, and robotic integration
Plumb and wire mechanical ergonomic lift‑assist tools, secure tools, robotic/automated systems, and special machines to drawings/schematics provided
Provide consistent and quality‑driven product results associated with assembling and terminating control panels, control plates, and wire/tube harness assemblies
Mechanically assemble various tools and special machines using mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical components in the construction of the machine system
Demonstrate professionalism in all activities and provide efficient service to internal and external customers
Ensure continuous improvement of operations and processes
Communicate effectively with co‑workers and customers both orally and in writing
Operate forklift, scissor lift, etc.
Travel internationally and up to 100%
Be willing to work holidays
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be professional, proactive, and positive. Having a passion for exceptional customer service and support is a must. Being sensitive to the unpredictable demands and uncertainties associated with customer service is a requisite to delivering superior results and exceeding the expectations of very demanding customers.
Other Skills and Abilities
Install new systems and troubleshoot existing installations of mechanical and pneumatic systems
Read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings
Use hand/power tools and possess a basic understanding of machining tools
Working knowledge of personal computer, keyboard, and software programs
Working knowledge of manufacturing processes
Strong interpersonal skills
Good verbal and written skills
Proven organizational skills
Prioritize work with limited supervision
Explain how and why specific conclusions were reached
Maintain confidentiality
Work well under pressure and remain flexible to changing schedules and demands
Education High School diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum 8 years’ experience and knowledge in Automotive, Metals, Plastics, Packaging, and Material Handling industries is a plus.
