$46.92 casual hourly rate (inc 25% casual loading)

About The Role We’re looking for a creative and motivated Programs & Activities Officer to join our team at the Yongah Hill Immigration Detention Centre (Northam). If you have a background in education, fitness, training, or arts, this is your chance to share your skills in a meaningful way - supporting detainees to build confidence, learn, and grow.

You’ll deliver practical, skills‑based sessions that support detainee wellbeing and engagement. From life skills to cooking programs, you’ll help design and facilitate activities that make a real difference.

Key responsibilities include:

Delivering and supporting group programs and life skills activities

Facilitating education, training, or practical workshops (e.g. cooking)

Contributing to inclusive, culturally sensitive program design

Providing feedback and supporting program reviews and improvements

Responding to emergency situations professionally and safely

Maintaining program spaces, equipment, and documentation

Supporting detainees to build capacity and self‑management

Key Requirements:

You’re approachable, energetic, and passionate about sharing your skills to help others. You enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds and have a calm, professional manner in dynamic environments.

Certificate III qualification in sports, recreation, learning and development, ethnic affairs or similar (mandatory)

Current First Aid & CPR

Ability to pass an Australian Federal Police Check

Availability to work across the seven days of the week
