About the Role At Better Angels, our Resource Days are a lifeline for the unhoused community in Los Angeles, bringing housing navigation, essential supplies, and vital resources. These events succeed only if the people who need them most know they are happening.

We are seeking a high-energy, community-minded

Outreach Marketing Manager . This is not a desk marketing role. You will be the boots‑on‑the‑ground strategist responsible for hyper‑local promotion. Recruit, train, and lead teams of volunteers to canvas specific neighborhoods, encampments, and service hubs, ensuring that every unhoused neighbor in the vicinity of an upcoming Resource Day is aware of the services available to them.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Canvassing Planning (Up to 1 hour/month):

Develop and execute a comprehensive outreach and canvassing “road map” for each weekly Resource Day across various Los Angeles neighborhoods.

Volunteer Leadership (Up to 5 hours/month):

Recruit, vet, and manage a diverse cohort of volunteers. Lead them in the field, ensuring they are prepared to engage the community with empathy and cultural competency.

Territory Mapping (Up to 1 hour/month):

Utilize data and local knowledge to identify high‑traffic areas, encampments, and community hubs to prioritize for pre‑event marketing.

Collateral Management (Up to 1 hour/month):

Coordinate the creation and distribution of accessible, easy‑to‑read flyers and outreach materials tailored to the specific needs and languages of each neighborhood.

Safety & Compliance (Up to 1 hour/month):

Establish and enforce safety protocols for field volunteers, ensuring all outreach is conducted respectfully and within the guidelines of local regulations.

Relationship Building (Up to 1 hour/month):

Act as a liaison between our organization and local neighborhood councils, business owners, and existing street medicine teams to synchronize outreach efforts.

Qualifications

Experience:

2‑4 years in community organizing, field marketing, or volunteer management. Experience working directly with the unhoused population or in the nonprofit sector is highly preferred.

Local Knowledge:

Deep understanding of Los Angeles geography and the unique challenges faced by different neighborhoods (e.g., North Hollywood, Venice, San Fernando Valley, Whittier, Huntington Park, South Bay, Inglewood).

Leadership Skills:

Proven ability to motivate and manage groups of volunteers from diverse backgrounds.

Communication:

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly with both unhoused individuals and community stakeholders.

Logistics:

Strong organizational skills; comfortable managing multiple timelines and moving parts simultaneously.

Requirements:

A valid CA Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle, as this role requires frequent travel across the city.

Why Join Us? You will be the bridge between a person in need and the life‑saving resources that can help them off the street. This role is for someone who prefers the sidewalk to a cubicle and believes that every Angeleno deserves to be seen and heard.
