Nemours is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (Primary Care, Vero Beach), FULL-TIME, to join our Primary Care team in Vero Beach, Florida.

Nemours primary care practices provide a kid‑friendly, family‑centered pediatric primary care experience for families in Central Florida. With 20 primary care and three urgent care practices conveniently located throughout the region, we provide quality, professional pediatric services with special attention on preventive care and whole‑child wellness.

Responsibilities

Act as a liaison between the patient and physician/provider.

Perform complete and accurate patient assessment or reassessment.

Screen patients for appropriate information and instruct them in specimen collection.

Provide education to the patient and/or parent/guardian in a manner that is understood.

Coordinate clinic flow:

Greet patients and families and prepare them for provider examination.

Confirm patient ID using two identifiers (name and DOB) and room patients.

Obtain vital signs.

Obtain and prepare laboratory specimens and perform in‑office laboratory tests, entering results into the patient chart.

Conduct laboratory controls, troubleshoot out‑of‑range control results, and administer immunizations and prescribed medications (oral, injectable, inhaled) per guidelines.

Review and prepare charts for clinic visits and perform spirometry.

Troubleshoot equipment and actively participate in team huddles.

Maintain and review medical records, ensuring proper documentation is available for provider review, checking laboratory results, executing follow‑ups on cultures, labs, and outside testing, and entering telephone encounters per protocol.

Ensure inbasket pools are completed timely, monitor voicemail, and preview patient charts to identify gaps in care.

Prepare equipment and rooms and assist physician during treatments, examinations, procedures, and testing of patients.

Maintain clinical supplies, clean and stock exam rooms, and ensure medications and immunizations are safely stored with monthly expiration checks.

Ensure provider’s orders are carried out, arrange patient diagnostic testing at outside facilities (including prior authorization), and schedule referrals for appointments, home care, radiology, and other requests.

Call pharmacies for prescription orders/refills, work on Healthy Planet reports and Care Gaps, and respond to phone calls with advice as dictated per guidelines.

Collaborate with schedulers to schedule patients according to orders and return calls in a courteous and timely manner, documenting communications per established guidelines.

Job Requirements

Specialized training (minimum 1 year beyond high school). required.

Minimum of one (1) year experience required.

Valid State of Florida LPN License required.

AHA BLS Certification required upon hire.
