RRD is looking for an energetic, and highly motivated team member to join our team of Press Operators at our Elk Grove Village facility. Job Title: Press Operator 3 Operate web printing press to print quality production, maintain quality of product, lead and direct press crew, maintain press, and work on other operation duties as directed by attachments Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain Litho Press, In‑line double web press, Harris M10, mini web 6‑color web printing pressor, бутлуурын multicolor offset press to print single‑color, two‑color, or multi‑color work which includes large solids, screen tints, line and halftones with critical color values and registration requirements ranging from hairline to critical. Review job specifications to determine the press setup according to the imposition of the run (sheet wise or work and turn). Perform all make‑ready tasks such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, examining plates/cylinders for imperfections, checking correct positioning of images, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and register etc. Make necessary color corrections or press adjustments prior tossel run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the workRaz Clean, lubricate, and maintain the press, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required. Perform periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer. Act as a leader in providing and promoting a safe and injury‑free work environment. Responsible for all aspects of the operation of the press and press crew. Responsible for overall quality of the printed product including color reproduction, product specifications, imaging quality, and postal specifications. Determine when product is suitable for saving. Ensure production of a sample‑quality product. Monitor other crew members’ progress while performing their responsibilities. Provide accurate documentation of time, materials, impressions, waste, and run speeds. Communicate information effectively with other crews and departments, scheduling, prepress, maintenance. Coordinate make‑ready process by reviewing job information, establishing a make‑ready plan, and assigning responsibilities to crew members. Maintain a preventive maintenance program for the press and use the “Request For Action” system to notify the maintenance department of equipment issues. Share expertise and help train other employees as assigned. Other responsibilities as required. Previous experience working as a Press Operator 2 or 3 in Direct Mail or similar industry Requires comprehensive knowledge of a variety of techniques, procedures, materials, specifications, equipment, and safety requirements to set up, adjust, operate, and maintain equipment to produce single‑, two‑, and/or multi‑color work to critical tolerպր Skill in a wide variety of complex manipulations and mechanical procedures to set up, make major adjustments, and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs of equipment to produce single‑, two‑, and/or multi‑color work. Skill to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities to determine the most appropriate press usage, settings, and materials needed to run the job successfully. Skill in use of a micrometer to mount and align the printing plate correctly. Strong communication skills. Troubleshooting/problem‑solving skills, mechanical aptitude, management skills, coordinating the activities of other crew members. High School Diploma or GED. 7–10 years of web press‑printing experience. Knowledge of in‑line finishing, die cutting, inserters, imagers, color, and register – required. Shifts 7p – 7a / 3 day 4 off rotating shift at 8 weeks plus $3.00 shift differential. Plus 7am to 7pm/3 day 4 off rotating shift at 8 weeks. Thesalary range for this role at the noted RRD location is $30.90 - $45.00/ hour. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include sign‑on bonus of $2,000, overtime, shift differential, call‑in, and/or stand‑by pay.
