Position: FLEET SERVICE TECHNICIAN Position Summary Inspect, repair, diagnose and perform routine preventive maintenance on all vehicles and equipment in a safe, timely, cost‑effective manner.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Perform repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.

Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.

Review, complete or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.

Prepare and maintain maintenance records in accordance with company policies and state and federal regulations, when a shop manager is absent.

Read reports, technical manuals and other documents to keep abreast of changes in the company fleet, including all component parts.

Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.

Conduct safety checks on vehicles.

Use welding skills and metal knowledge to complete vehicle repairs, when applicable.

Perform other job‑related duties as assigned or apparent.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of heavy equipment and truck maintenance experience (preferred).

Minimum of 2 years in a technician position demonstrating knowledge of gasoline and diesel‑powered equipment diagnosis and repair.

Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision for systems such as suspensions & steering, general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain and diesel emissions.

Experience with welding (a plus).

Must possess own hand tools.

Able to work well with minimal supervision.

Effective written and oral communication skills.

Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of standing and walking.

Ability to climb, bend or crawl into awkward spaces.

Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently up to 75 pounds, and occasionally up to 75–100 pounds.

Exposure to physical occupational risks such as cuts, burns, chemicals, etc., often.

Exposure to physical environment involving moving mechanical parts, fumes, dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements, often.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

Graduated from an accredited automotive college or technical school.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid driver’s license.

Commercial driver’s license (a plus, not required).

Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications (T1–T8) (a plus, not required).
