Environmental Health Specialist I
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public or environmental health or related field; current Minnesota Department of Health, Environmental Health Specialist/Sanitarian Registration or the ability to obtain registration within 18 months of the date of hire; Registration by the Minnesota Department of Health as an Environmental Health Specialist/Sanitarian is required within 24 months; valid Minnesota issued driver’s license that is unrestricted except for corrective lenses, or able to attain one by appointment; must provide own appropriate transportation. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public or environmental health or related field; at least two years of experience in the performance of varied sanitation inspections or air and water pollution control work; current Minnesota Department of Health, Environmental Health Specialist/Sanitarian Registration; successful completion of initial standardization and maintenance of eligibility requirements for re-standardization; valid Minnesota issued driver’s license that is unrestricted except for corrective lenses, or able to attain one by appointment; must provide own appropriate transportation. Environmental Health Specialist I 2026 Hiring Rate: $73,584 annually ($35.37 per hour). The full salary range for 2026 is $73,584 - $98,927 annually. Environmental Health Specialist II 2026 Hiring Rate: $80,942 annually ($38.91 per hour). The full salary range for 2026 is $80,942 - $108,819 annually. On January 1, 2027, there is a 4.75% general increase to all steps of all ranges.
