We are recruiting for the following position:Sea Mar is a mandatory COVID-19 and flu vaccine organization**Job Title**Cook**Position Summary**Assist the Food Service Director in monitoring workflow, prioritizing, and directing activities of other employees within the department. Prepare all Residents’ meals (as appropriate to your shift) and assist in preparation of food/meals for special functions/catering. Sea Mar is an advocate for its clients and aims to achieve industry-leading, client-centered, culturally-aware services.Sea Mar employees serve as an extension of this mission and demonstrate their commitment to an excellent client experience by:• Understanding and empathizing with client needs• Surpassing client expectations• Demonstrating a high level of integrity• Exhibiting compassion and commitment• Advocating for social justice• Taking pride in individual work as well as that of the team• Continually learning to stay current with industry standards, best practices and technologyAs a Sea Mar employee, the individual in this position commits to adherence to these values to their utmost ability and endeavors to strengthen and embody this mission daily.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Prepares the meals according to menus and standardized recipes provided.• Receives unpacked and inventory food deliveries store raw/uncooked foods according to sanitary temperature procedure and policy.• Serves as a resource or problem solver for other employees within the department.• Oversees storage of cooked foods, i.e., covering, labels, dates, etc.• Ensures "rotation" is used for stared, cooked foods, i.e., "first in, first out."• Maintains standards of safety and sanitation at all times, setting the examples for all other food service employees.• Follow clients' dietary needs.• Wash the dishes and any items utilized during meal preparation.• Follow the Department of Health and JCAHO requirements for kitchen environment of care.• Attends all required in-service training sessions.• Participates in organizational/community events.• Performs other duties as assigned and participates in organizational activities/functions.**Qualifications**LANGUAGE SKILLS• English/Spanish, bilingual/bicultural preferred, but not required.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS• Ability to make simple calculations, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.• Knowledge of required conversion (i.e., temperatures, quantities, capacities, etc.).REASONING ABILITY• Ability to make appropriate decisions regarding his/her job.**Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, and Medical Screening**• High school diploma or GED preferred.• Training including food safety and sanitation.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS• Two years cooking experience in an institutional setting.• Food Handler Permit.• Must complete a pre-hire and annual TB test screening.• Annual employee health screening required.• Annual TB test required.• Annual influenza vaccine required. Only exception is for employees with a medical or religious exemption approved by Administration. Employees with an approved medical or religious exemption must wear a mask at all times during the flu season.• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If an exception is approved by administration, the employee must wear a facemask at all times.**Work Environment**Typical institutional food services department. Hot cooking surfaces, foods; large equipment, cold areas such as walk-in refrigerator and freezer. Potential for wet floors**Physical Requirements**Requires walking, standing, stooping, bending, reaching, & pushing throughout the assigned shift.
