Job Title: Safety SpecialistJob Description
The Safety Specialist will play a key role in ensuring a safe working environment on mission‑critical Data Center construction projects. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs tailored to the unique requirements of data center environments—where high‑voltage electrical systems, complex mechanical installations, and fast‑paced construction activities demand exceptional attention to safety. The ideal candidate will create and enforce programs that align with OSHA standards and all project‑specific regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement site‑specific safety programs that address the unique risks associated with Data Center construction, including high‑energy systems, equipment installation, and controlled‑access work zones.
Conduct detailed risk assessments to identify hazards related to electrical systems, mechanical installations, chemical handling, cleanroom or specialized room construction, and heavy equipment operation.
Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with safety protocols, PPE requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Perform routine site safety inspections to identify unsafe practices, equipment misuse, environmental concerns, or deviations from project safety standards.
Lead investigations of incidents, near‑misses, or safety violations, performing root‑cause analysis and driving corrective and preventive actions.
Coordinate and deliver safety training programs, including hazard communication, emergency response, confined space awareness, electrical safety, and other relevant topics.
Maintain organized and accurate documentation, including safety audit reports, permits, incident logs, corrective action tracking, and compliance certifications.
Collaborate with errors project managers, engineers, trade partners, and QA teams to embed safety considerations into every phase of Data Center construction.
Support the culture of safety excellence by promoting proactive hazard reporting, team engagement, and adherence to safety best practices across the site.
Essential Skills
Strong understanding of OSHA standards and general construction safety practices.
Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments tailored to Data Center environments.
Skilled in delivering safety training to diverse teams. Pro标签 in incident investigation and root‑cause analysis.
Excellent documentation and record‑keeping abilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, or a related field.
0–2 years of experience working as a Safety Specialist within the construction industry.
OSHA 30 certification required; additional certifications (e.g., First Aid/CPR, HAZWOPER) a plus. Strong communication skills and the ability to influence safety culture positively.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $120000.00/hr.
