Adjunct Specialized Faculty Positions (Open Rank) - School of Information Sciences (iSchool) University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

The School of Information Sciences is accepting applications for adjunct faculty to teach graduate and undergraduate courses supporting the MS in Library and Information Science, the MS in Information Management, and the BS in Information Science. We are particularly interested in instructors who can teach on campus.

Other areas include Prison Librarianship, Archives, Data storytelling, Law librarianship, Library outreach, community engagement, Library services with and for Indigenous peoples, Library social work, Research methods, social sciences (empirical, theoretic, computational), stochastic modeling, Object‑oriented and functional programming (all levels), HCI, UI/UX, Technical project management, Animation, Game Design, Game Programming, Game Art, Technical Art, Interactive Media Development, and broader game‑development production workflows.

Minimum Qualifications

MS/MA or PhD in Information Sciences, Information Technology, Library and Information Science, Computer Science, Design, or related fields.

Teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Academic training and/or work experience in needed curricular areas.

Relevant service in professional organizations (where applicable).

Salary and Appointment Information Candidates may be offered an affiliate, non‑service appointment initially. Salary and service will be commensurate with course load. The expected start date for Spring 2026 is January 16, 2026, and for Fall 2026 is August 16, 2026.

The budgeted salary for these positions is $7,000 for each 4‑credit hour semester long course.
