Join at Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics (BEAM) as a Counselor/Teaching Assistant for a residential summer program that supports students from low‑income and underserved communities in becoming mathematicians and scientists.
About BEAM The mission of BEAM is to create pathways for students from low‑income and underserved communities to become scientists, mathematicians, engineers, and computer scientists. BEAM believes that pathways to STEM careers are built through community, individual support, and access to advanced work that typically lies outside most school curricula. The organization provides continuous support from middle school through college graduation, including intense academic summer programs, weekend classes, mentoring, and STEM‑focused support through college.
About the role This summer, you will be part of a transformative experience for students with exceptional potential in math. As a Counselor/Teaching Assistant, you will help students discover powerful mathematical ideas, build confidence, and see themselves as mathematicians.
What You’ll Do
Supervise students.
Run social and community activities.
Build a positive social environment.
Work with students on mathematics, both one‑on‑one and as a teaching assistant.
Live in the dorms as a student hall leader.
Who You Are Counselors must be strong mathematically, reliable, and proactive, with charisma to help students enjoy learning.
At least 18 years old by the beginning of the program.
Authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship of visas is not available at this time. International students with CPT or OPT are welcome.

Compensation: $19.50 per hour
Benefits
Transportation expenses to/from staff's residence to a BEAM Summer Away campus location are covered within approved guidelines, including flight cost if needed.
Free dorm room, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and laundry access throughout training and camp days.
