DESCRIPTION General Function:

Provides clerical support services under the direct supervision of the Director, Medical Staff Services or Chief Executive Officer or her delegate on medical staff affairs.

Processes applications for medical staff and allied health in the initial and reappointment of privileges, preparing reports and correspondence, scheduling meetings and maintaining files and conducting special projects as assigned. Determines applicant’s eligibility for clinical privileges.

Responsible for the Emergency Room unassigned call schedule. Coordinates verification of licensure for non-staff caregivers, to include medical students and podiatric residents. Verifies expirables, ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Maintains credentialing database to ensure accurate and current information is available hospital wide.

Supports the WCCH Tumor Registry Conference meeting. This includes conference room set‑up and meal coordination, meeting minutes and PowerPoint presentation of case reviews, and registry reporting with the State of Louisiana.

Associates Degree in healthcare and/or business related field, or comparable experience. Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification is encouraged.

Experience Requirements Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Special Requirements

Ability to communicate with physicians and Hospital staff in a professional and courteous manner.

Flexible.

Office coordination experience, preferably in the medical field. Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) internet browsing, and database management of office programs.

Meeting the public, ability to meet and direct people. Knowledge of correct grammar and punctuation; ability to compose documents, minutes, correspondence, etc., are vital.

Potential for increased stress levels.

Most job functions will take place in an air‑conditioned office with little exposure to hazardous or infectious materials. Customer contact may cause some exposure to infection. Employee may be required to perform duties in storage areas. Long hours of sitting at a computer terminal are routine. Some possible lifting, stooping, and pushing may be necessary.
