Position Summary Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, this position is responsible for assisting certified YSL Aquatic Instructors during lessons. The role works only under the supervision of a YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor.
Key Responsibilities
Assist aquatics instructors during swim classes.
Prepare for class: have all equipment available and ready prior to swim class; assist in putting away all equipment after swim class.
Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals at all times.
Ensure a clean and safe pool environment at all times.
Engage in active listening with members to build relationships, understand each individual's goals and interests, and take initiative to assist in the achievement of those goals.
Attend mandatory monthly in-service training and mandatory twice per year association trainings.
Possibly work one-on-one with individual students during group classes.
All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Swim Aide is for ages 15 years to 15 years and 11 months.
No experience necessary.
Physical Demands
Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff.
May be required to be in the pool for an extended period of time.
May need to lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
Shifts may vary, including early mornings, nights, and weekends.
