Base pay range $40,736.00/yr - $52,957.00/yr

Summary This position is located in the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of the Logistics Service in a Veteran Affairs Health Care System (VA HCS) and supported catchment area.

Qualifications To qualify for this position - applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement - 01/19/2026.

Time-In-Grade Requirement

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-4. The grade may have been in any occupation - but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year - it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade - as required by the announcement. In this instance you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Specialized Experience

You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-04) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include - but are not limited to: knowledge of standard supply management procedures; knowledge related to stock rotation - hazard alerts and recalls to ensure outdated or otherwise compromised supplies and materials are removed; knowledge of automated inventory systems to monitor issues and receipts in support of stock replenishment processes; knowledge of barcode-based computer systems - such as Generic Inventory Package (GIP) - to ensure proper input and interpretation of computer data; communication and customer service skills in relationship to customers - staff and vendors; and experience in delivering - shipping and receiving items - supplies and/or equipment.

Education

Substitution of Education for Experience: Have you successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level? This education must have been obtained in an accredited business - secretarial - or technical school - junior college - college or university. One year of full‑time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours - 45 quarter hours - or the equivalent in a college or university - or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business - secretarial and technical school. Combination of Education and Experience: Do you possess a combination of specialized experience and successfully completed education described above? Transcripts Required.

You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience - including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. - Peace Corps - AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. - professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies - knowledge - and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience - including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements

The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday - and frequent reaching - bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). Work requires pushing loaded carts of medical supplies (weighing in excess of 100+ pounds). With proper assistance may move heavier items that weigh over 40 pounds.

Duties

Maintains stocks at primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administrative services

Monitors expiration dates - rotates stock to limit outdates and removes items from use as required by outdates

Performs daily inventory of primary and secondary inventory points using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment orders

Distributes items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized inventory management systems such as GIP

Delivers supplies in a timely and accurate manner - ensuring supplies and material delivered are in sterile and operational condition

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday

7:30AM-4:00 PM. This is not a virtual position.
