The L.E. Myers Co. is seeking a Safety Specialist I.

About The Role Safety Specialists work closely with field staff, clients and subcontractors, all levels of management, and personnel from external organizations during all phases of electric construction projects. They are committed to ensuring adherence to safety‑related policies, procedures, and regulations while developing positive professional relationships. This is a location‑based position encompassing worksites throughout the assigned project area and requires varying amounts of travel.

Essential Functions

Perform ongoing site visits to observe and document safety behaviors and work conditions.

Coordinate with Operations teams to create site‑specific safety plans and participate in safety meetings.

Participate in project kick‑off and progress meetings.

Support client‑specific safety requirements and ensure alignment between client expectations, company rules, and applicable safety regulations.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental protection or occupational health and safety regulations.

Coach and mentor project site personnel regarding safety practices.

Conduct proactive behavior‑based and quality‑focused field safety observations and PPE hazard assessments.

Partner with Safety, Safety Training & Operations teams to schedule or facilitate required employee trainings.

Conduct accident/injury investigations including root cause analyses.

Provide support to Operations for incident case management and documentation.

Follow up with Operations to ensure completion of corrective actions for all incidents.

Support safety committees by assisting in assessment of safety performance trends and implementing process improvements.

Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Work at a company‑designated office or field location.

Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other professional standards.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) field roles.

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Minimum of one safety certification preferred (e.g., CSHO, CHST, SMS, SSH, CSP).

Undergraduate degree in Safety Management or related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Problem‑solving and situation analysis skills.

Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence behavior.

Strong knowledge of OSHA and other industry safety regulations.

Team player with the ability to collaborate across departments and with outside contacts.

Attentiveness to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work independently.

Basic understanding of electric construction project management practices.

Ability to travel for job‑site visits for extended periods.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $73,000 – $93,000 DOE.
