The Assistant Nurse Manager is a professional, registered nurse who is a skilled communicator, collaborator, and authentic leader. The ANM supports the organization in the execution of the nursing strategic plan and priorities, actively participates in unit and hospital decision‑making, and provides meaningful recognition to others. The ANM provides operational and administrative support to Nurse leadership, coordinating staffing, supporting throughput, quality and safety outcomes, staff competency, hiring, clinical and staff corrective actions, unit efficiency, quality care and other departmental activities to support the mission, vision and values of Hackensack Meridian Health. The ANM, in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, assesses, plans, implements, monitors, and evaluates nursing practice and the nursing care delivery system with direct supervision of front‑line staff.
Responsibilities
Participate in recruitment and retention strategies
Assist with unit huddles and leader rounding with employees
Participate in unit goal creation reflecting hospital goals and the mission and vision of Hackensack Meridian Health
Participate or lead when appropriate: evidence‑based practice projects or research
Participate or lead when appropriate: unit‑based or hospital‑based shared governance committees or councils
Resolve conflicts and facilitate constructive resolutions and positive outcomes if possible
Complete employee corrective action plans/counseling as necessary
Adhere to HMH's organizational and managerial competencies and standards of behavior
Prepare and conduct periodic performance evaluations of assigned staff members
Contribute to and/or monitor the unit orientation process for all roles as necessary
Model cultural competence, social justice, and fairness, and capitalize on generational diversity to foster highly effective work groups
Qualifications
NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
A minimum of an Associate in Nursing or diploma of Nursing degree with BSN in progress and/or willing to acquire within three (3) years of hire.
Minimum 3 years recent nursing experience in respective specialty or equivalent required.
AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification required.
The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs, a strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of our patients and their caregivers, an exceptional focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education and the ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care based on a strong sense of patient focus are all required.
National Certification acceptable to the Magnet Recognition Program and appropriate to your current specialty within two years of hire.
Supervisory or charge nurse experience preferred.
