Position Overview The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services seeks an organized, professional, and results‑oriented individual to serve as a Permanency Specialist. Under general supervision, this position will provide professional child welfare casework services to children and families, determine the need and coordinate the placement of children in substitute care facilities, conduct interviews with clients and professionals to obtain information for diagnosis and development of treatment plans, and utilize Spanish speaking skills in the performance of duties.

Essential Functions

Serve as Permanency Specialist.

Work with intact families and children in home and/or substitute care.

Conduct interviews with clients and professionals to gather information for diagnosis and treatment planning.

Translate and interpret, both orally and in writing, for Spanish‑speaking clients regarding services and forms.

Transport clients when taking protective custody, placing them in substitute care, or changing placement location.

Prepare and maintain case documentation for planning, implementing, and evaluating services.

Participate in case staffing to facilitate case transfer and in multidisciplinary diagnostic and technical staff conferences.
