The Savannah Convention Center is currently seeking part-time Off Duty Police Officers to join our team! Officers may be utilized to manage crowd control during emergency, exigent, or any general circumstance that would warrant police action or intervention. Additionally, officers may be posted in various locations around the campus for the purpose of providing general police services. Officers may also be assigned a traffic post to facilitate the ingress and egress of vehicular and pedestrian traffic during events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
Ensure that traffic flows safely in and around their assigned area, intersection, and campus.
Monitor and regulate illegal parking.
Responsible for impounding vehicles that are illegally parked or abandoned within the direction of the on duty Public Safety Manager.
Conduct investigations of criminal activities and taking appropriate action, to include citation or arrest.
Respond to reported and witnessed incidents and will be responsible for the completion and submission of required incident reports, by the end of their tour of duty. The officer will conduct a thorough investigation, preserve, and collect evidence relating to the incident.
Provide general police services to the public.
Perform other police duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned by the on duty Public Safety Manager.
Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
High degree of integrity and compliance
Thoroughness in task approach, follow-up & completion;
Self-awareness
Crowd management skills
Ability to prioritize tasks & to manage workload using own initiative
Ability to multi-task & work under pressure with limited resources
Detail oriented
Assess, weigh and manage risk in the face of uncertainty
Ability to work an irregular work schedule as required to perform duties and responsibilities
Ability to work weekends, holidays, and nights.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Officer must be currently employed and in “Good Standing” with employer.
Officer must have jurisdiction in this geographical area.
Must have agency approval to work extra job at GWCCA.
Officers must possess a current P.O.S.T. Certification and must be in “Good Standing” with P.O.S.T.
