Standard Duties The Maintenance Automation Technician is responsible for providing care and technical support to manufacturing and engineering processes and assets. The Technician must ensure that the equipment and processes are maintained at the highest level of safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity. The Maintenance Automation Technician is responsible for installing and repairing systems, apparatus, electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for staying up to date on new products, equipment, technology, and techniques. This includes total preventive maintenance and predictive maintenance of equipment and machinery, managing breakdowns of mechanical, electrical, and robotic equipment.

Internal candidates will be selected based on an interview including but not limited to skill set, attitude, and presenteeism.

Roles and Responsibilities

Follow all safety policies, procedures and protocols while servicing, installing or maintaining equipment.

Perform all work in accordance with company policies and procedures, OSHA/EPA requirements and regulations.

Work with engineering staff and outside vendors regarding equipment hut up to date on new products, etc.

Perform preventive maintenance as assigned which includes, but is not limited to repair, diagnose, clean, lubricate, upgrade manufacturing equipment, glue dispensing equipment, plasma treat equipment, slide actuators, hoist, conveyors, etc.

Provide support to troubleshoot and recover any problem with robots on the production line.

Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned), on production, packaging, processing equipment, and utility systems.

Inspect, monitor, identify and respond promptly to signs of malfunction in machinery such as changes in performance, temperature fluctuations, sounds, smells or atypical energy usage; perform troubleshooting for production machinery.

Perform emergency repairs on various types of machinery, including mechanical, electric, and hydraulic; identify and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner to minimize equipment downtime.

Inspect, service, calibrate, and maintain sophisticated equipment, programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drivesBundle, electrical systems, telemetering devices, monitoring instruments, and control instrumentation. Servicing and maintain equipment including motors, conveyor systems, transmission systems, and production related equipment.

Operating vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment - Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving mechanized equipment such as forklifts, boom lifts, pallet jacks or other industrial trucks.

Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

Complete work orders in a timely manner maintaining high quality standards.

Maintain communication with other departments, management and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.

Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format, and completed with required information in accordance with SOP’s.

Assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory by reporting low supply levels to Supervisor.

Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.

Maintain a 5S compliant work area while completing tasks related to maintenance, repair, or installation.

Determine serviceability of parts and components by inspecting used parts, using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

Fabricate simple repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.

Willing to work non-traditional hours including overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays with on-call availability. Readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations.

Perform other duties as required.

Overtime may be required.

Safety, Health, and Physical Requirements

Moderate to steady lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Repetitive motion activities including but not limited to loading machines, unloading machines, standing, lifting, loading/unloading carts.

All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding, and complying with the safety policies and procedures.

This position requires a moderate to high degree of standing, walking, stooping, or kneeling, close eye work, reaching, pulling, or pushing.

Requires wearing personal protective equipment.

May require occasional work from heights. Operating, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, and industrial trucks.

Good hand dexterity, hearing, and vision are considered essential. Ability to distinguish color required.

Punctual attendance to work is required.

Up to 20% training related travel.

Education Associate’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or engineering specialties or equivalent work experience preferred. High School diploma/GED or basic skills assessment required.

Experience

2+ years of maintenance experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, and basic electrical repair preferred. 1-year minimum experience on a variety of equipment including lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control and packaging equipment.

Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations.

Experience with trouble shooting basic electrical systems (e.g., PLC, AC/DC power supplies, sensors, fuses, contacts, relays, motors/servos) and the ability to read and use mechanical and electrical schematics for repairs and troubleshooting required.

Working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic system components, such as pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, and solenoids.

Professional experience in maintenance and with automated systems, focusing on assembly technology.

Working knowledge and ability to use hand and power tools, and devices such as torque guns, volts meters etc.

Experience with basic robotics, robotic controls, and vision systems.

Candidate should be highly energized and self‑motivated with experience working with teams.

Intermediate MS Office suite.

Working knowledge of preventive maintenance program/s required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Ability to read and understand equipment operation manuals, Safety Data Sheets, and other literature as required. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English required.
