This position will be assigned to the JBSA Fort Sam Houston Golf Course located in San Antonio, Texas.
This is a Regular Part-Time category position with guaranteed 20 hours per week, may work up to 40 hrs./week. Employees appointed to a regular category position are eligible for benefits.
Duties
The incumbent is responsible for the programming, operation and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system(s). Independently installs, modifies, repairs and maintains a variety of new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems and equipment associated with golf course irrigation systems. Plans and ensures the proper slant, slope, fall or level of installation to provide for proper flow, drainage and sanitary operating conditions and to prevent backflow, vacuum or air lock conditions. Maintains records and documents actions. Plans and accomplishes work from initial layout to final assembly which involves interpreting and applying building plans, specifications, blueprints, sketches and other plumbing guides/codes and using shop mathematics. Troubleshoots/tests various plumbing systems and equipment including backflow prevention devices such as reduced pressure principle devices, double check devices, atmospheric vacuum breakers and other cross connection devices. Uses and maintains tools such as tapes, rules, plumb bobs, hand and power pipe threaders, cutters, pipe wrenches, angle drills, hacksaws and power saws, power sewer cleaning equipment, various gas detectors and meters and lead pots. This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results. This position has physical requirements which require the incumbent to complete a pre-employment physical. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing drug use. Must have a valid driver's license. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. The incumbent must be able to work an assigned shift to meet work requirements. This position requires the incumbent to be a U.S. Citizen or a Legal U.S. Resident for a minimum of 3 years and must reside in/around the area.
