Job Summary
Campus Building Inspector / Inspector of Record – Administrator II, Full‑time, at‑will, Monday‑Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, salary $10,400–$12,800 per month. Responsible for university permitting and inspection program, supervising special project inspectors, coordinating regulatory approvals, and ensuring compliance with California Building Codes, SUAM, ADA, and other safety codes.

Responsibilities
Manage and supervise the university’s permitting and inspection program.
Supervise special project inspectors and provide guidance to project managers.
Confirm compliance with state building codes and SUAM.
Complete daily field inspections and maintain inspection reports.
Coordinate regulatory approvals and permitting with state agencies, Fire Safety, and campus departments.
Solicit proposals from testing and inspection consultants.
Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures.
Enter and maintain inspection data in reporting software.
Coordinate project closeout procedures and resolve independent problems.
Prepare or oversee Certified Access Specialist reports and accessibility evaluations.
Provide excellent customer service and support campus building construction and maintenance.
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
Minimum five years of direct professional experience in construction inspection, plus at least two years supervising inspection or construction administration.
Certification: International Code Council (B2 Commercial Building Inspector) minimum, or DSA Project Inspector, HCAI Inspector, or equivalent national certification.
In-depth knowledge of California Building Codes, ADA/Accessibility, and Safety Codes.
Ability to read construction plans and understand construction schedules.
Excellent computer, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Successful completion of a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a large institutional, university, or public works setting.
Experience working with the State Fire Marshal and Office of Fire Safety.
Certified Access Specialist (CASp) certification.
Special Working Conditions Balancing safety and secure ladder use is essential. The position includes limited public reporting responsibilities and requires compliance with CSU ethics, conflict of interest, and child abuse reporting requirements.
