Position Summary The Duct Cleaning & Maintenance Technician is responsible for cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining ductwork and air distribution systems in residential and light commercial buildings. This role keeps our customers’ homes and businesses safe, comfortable, and efficient by improving air quality, reducing dust, and supporting the performance of HVAC systems.

You will work directly with customers, operate specialized duct cleaning equipment, document findings, and communicate any additional repair or replacement needs to the office and service team.

Key Responsibilities Duct Cleaning & System Maintenance

Perform full system duct cleaning for residential and light commercial HVAC systems.

Set up and operate rotary brush systems, air whips, and vacuum equipment.

Inspect supply and return ducts for debris, microbial growth, damaged sections, disconnected runs, and poor sealing.

Clean registers, grilles, diffusers, and accessible components of the air distribution system.

Replace or recommend upgrades to air filters and filter racks.

Perform basic HVAC maintenance tasks as assigned, such as coil cleaning, drain line clearing, and simple component inspections.

Quality & Safety

Follow CSMT safety procedures for ladders, confined spaces, electrical panels, and equipment use.

Protect customer property with drop cloths, corner guards, and proper containment.

Maintain a clean, organized work area during and after each job.

Use proper PPE and follow best practices to minimize dust and contaminants released into occupied spaces.

Customer Service & Communication

Greet customers professionally and explain the scope of work before starting the job.

Walk customers through before and after findings using photos and simple language.

Communicate any concerns, additional recommended work, or system issues to the customer and the office.

Documentation & Coordination

Complete digital job notes, checklists, and photos in the Service Titan software.

Track materials, filters, and equipment used and report any shortages or needed repairs.

Coordinate with dispatch and service managers on scheduling, access needs, and follow up visits.

Assist installers and service technicians as needed on light maintenance or retrofit work.

Qualifications Required

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Experience in construction, HVAC, janitorial, restoration, or similar hands on work.

Ability to use basic hand tools, shop vacuums, and powered cleaning equipment safely.

Strong attention to detail and pride in leaving a job cleaner than you found it.

Comfortable working in attics, crawlspaces, and on ladders.

Professional communication skills with customers, coworkers, and management.

Preferred

Prior duct cleaning, HVAC, or IAQ (indoor air quality) experience.

Familiarity with negative air systems, duct cameras, or NADCA style processes.

Basic understanding of how residential forced air systems work (furnace, air handler, return/supply layout).

Physical Requirements

Lift, carry, and maneuver equipment up to approximately 75 lbs.

Work in hot or cold environments including attics, crawlspaces, and mechanical rooms.

Sit, stand, bend, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods.

Drive company vehicles to and from job sites in varying weather conditions.

Schedule & Work Environment

Full time position with typical hours Monday through Thursday, with occasional evenings based on workload and customer needs.

Field based role working in occupied homes and businesses throughout the Gallatin Valley and surrounding areas.
