We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our legal team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive administrative and support across a diverse range of legal practice areas, including defense litigation, medical malpractice, and general liability law. Your organizational skills will help ensure the smooth operation of our law office, assist attorneys and support staff with case management, including the firm’s daily calendar and NYSCEF Court calendar.
Responsibilities
Assist attorneys and support staff with pleadings, return dates, deadlines, scheduling Examinations before Trial, verify Court appearance types (i.e. in person/virtual/submission)
Monitor Court filings (Answers, counterclaims, Motions, Orders and Court notices)
Draft, proofread, and review legal documents such as pleadings, correspondence, and reports with precision and clarity.
Support the preparation of legal filings and manage document review processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with court requirements.
Perform administrative duties including scheduling appointments, managing calendars for attorneys, answering phones with professional etiquette, and providing executive administrative support as needed.
Support litigation efforts by coordinating depositions, trial preparations, and liaising with external parties when necessary.
Proficient knowledge of
TimeSlips
billing program for entering attorney's billable hours.
Contribute to the overall organization of the law office by handling clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, transcription module, proofreading documents for accuracy, and maintaining compliance with firm policies.
Additional legal/office assistance, as needed, including reception backup, as well as assisting with processing mail.
Qualifications
2-5 years of litigation calendar experience.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
Must be able to take action and work independently with limited direction.

Pay: $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
