Responsibilities Senior Associate Director of Clinic Excellence is the strategic leader of Clinic Excellence Consultants (CECs) within an assigned geography. The role involves leading and motivating the CEC team to create clinic business plans, generate sales, grow market share and profitability, and drive clinic loyalty.
Clinic Excellence Strategic Plan Development and Execution
Define the US Clinic Excellence strategy, goals, and solutions in collaboration with leadership to ensure mutual value between clinics and Boehringer, fostering long‑term loyalty.
Lead and monitor dedicated CEC team activation to ensure excellence in action plans and execution.
Analyze and evaluate the characteristics of continually changing and complex markets and clinics in the assigned area.
Ensure strong internal and external collaboration across the full Boehringer Pet Vet field team, cross‑functional team members, and key clinic team members.
Regularly monitor and update financial potential, targets, trends, and share of customer spend to support long‑range planning and annual budgeting.
Clinic Excellence Account Performance
Ensure performance meets or exceeds annual company sales, contract performance goals, and market share objectives.
Establish plans for using all allocated resources to accomplish the sales and planned objectives of the CEC team within budget.
Analyze, evaluate, and interpret formal and informal reports to determine effective resource use and re‑direct resources to maximize sales as conditions warrant.
Ensure agreements are upheld to deliver optimal Boehringer financial performance and drive desired behaviors.
Ensure appropriate resources from various business areas are engaged and guide investment in all clinic activity.
Implement Boehringer‑supported tools to maximize ROI in clinics, driving loyalty.
Ensure the CEC team utilizes CRM tools to create pre‑call plans and maintain up‑to‑date account records.
Clinic Excellence Opportunity Identification
Lead the CEC team to analyze all available data—including sales, gross‑to‑net, and market share—to identify strategically important clinics.
Collaborate with district managers, sales representatives, and CECs to prioritize key clinics and pursue sales and loyalty opportunities.
Regularly review data analytics to ensure CECs are calling on the correct accounts and adjust clinic and personnel actions as appropriate.
Leading and Coaching of Clinic Excellence Team
Directly lead, coach, and develop a dedicated team of CECs.
Monitor team performance, develop actionable MAG plans, provide regular feedback, and conduct timely MAG Plan reviews.
Contribute to talent development to enhance the Pet Vet Sales organization ahead of changing market demands.
Oversee recruitment, selection, and development of top‑tier talent.
Ensure team members receive goal setting, training opportunities, coaching, and quarterly performance evaluations while traveling with the CECs.
Recommend merit increases and promotions for CEC team members as appropriate.
Requirements
BS/BA degree required.
MBA, Veterinary, Animal Science, or comparable degree preferred.
10–12 years of relevant sales/account management/business operations experience, including 5+ years in animal health or a related industry.
2–5 years of experience leading teams in sales, marketing, or account management.
Strong leadership and coaching skills to maximize performance results.
Aptitude and desire to sell and gain market share.
Knowledge of the animal health/veterinary clinic industry economics and drivers, preferred.
Ability to work and thrive in a matrix team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to lead without authority and inspire a team to follow.
Strong learning agility.
High level of business and financial acumen.
Proficiency in various business software applications.
Ability to travel (up to 40% overnight travel domestically).
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
Authorization to drive a company leased vehicle or authorized rental car.
Eligibility Requirements
Legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Willing to take a drug test and post‑offer physical (if required).
18 years of age or older.

Develop and nurture key contacts with internal and external stakeholders to positively impact operating results.

Maintain accurate, concise, and timely communications with CECs, assigned district managers, the wider Pet team, and cross‑functional partners.
Lead team meetings and communicate regularly with sales leadership to ensure collaboration.
Competitive Intelligence, Market & Industry Knowledge
Educate the team on market, customer, and industry information to drive higher quality CEC plans and customer interactions.
Monitor market conditions for changes that impact the animal health business and update the team to ensure those changes are incorporated into CEC business plans.
Continuously gather knowledge of competitors and share insights with CECs so they can effectively position Boehringer’s solutions against them.
