Position Overview System One is seeking an experienced
Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Specialist
to support corporate and field operations by ensuring compliance with HSE standards and applicable regulations. This role plays a critical part in promoting a strong safety culture through inspections, training, audits, and incident investigations across multiple sites and facilities. The HSE Specialist partners closely with operational teams and leadership to identify hazards, mitigate risk, and drive continuous safety improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Perform on-site and field compliance inspections to ensure adherence to HSE programs, policies, procedures, and applicable government regulations
Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and develop Emergency Response Plans for site deployments
Deliver new-hire HSE onboarding and role-specific safety training
Respond to, investigate, and document incidents and near misses
Organize and participate in monthly Safety Committee meetings
Document and report noncompliance with HSE policies, SOPs, and regulatory requirements
Participate in job site–specific safety meetings and safety observations
Maintain ongoing safety communication with personnel at all organizational levels
Conduct Life Saving Rules observations, exercise stop-work authority when required, and initiate immediate corrective actions
Attend required compliance training and certification courses
Safely operate a company vehicle day or night, across various terrains and weather conditions, and ensure routine vehicle maintenance
Maintain compliance with all HSE policies, including required training, meetings, and PPE usage
Develop, implement, and maintain HSE programs, procedures, and supporting documentation
Support leadership in safety-related discussions with current and prospective customer partners
Monitor, analyze, and report safety KPIs for internal and external stakeholders
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and safety awareness
Collaborate with customer safety peers to align on best practices and safety initiatives
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience as an HSE Representative or equivalent role within oilfield operations or power generation
Certified Safety Health Officer (CSHO) certification or equivalent
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
English fluency required
Willingness to travel frequently throughout the Permian and Delaware Basins (West Texas and New Mexico)
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage contractors, vendors, and personnel at all levels
Strong presentation and public speaking skills, including presenting to senior and executive leadership
In-depth knowledge of NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910 & 1926, and NESC
Experience developing and auditing LOTO, energized work, and electrical PPE programs
Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, arc flash studies, and electrical schematics
Familiarity with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
Ability to exercise independent judgment, professionalism, and discretion
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads
Self‑motivated, driven, and adaptable to changing field conditions and program requirements
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and the ability to quickly learn additional software
Ability to work extended shifts (12+ hours), including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
Ability to safely operate a vehicle in all weather and road conditions
