Summary Acta Non Verba: Youth Urban Farm Project’s (ANV) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to elevate life for youth and their families in Oakland and beyond by challenging oppressive dynamics and environments through urban farming and access to the natural environment. Founded and led mainly by women and People of Color, ANV engages youth and families in safe and creative outdoor spaces in Oakland and the East Bay, CA. ANV strengthens young people’s understanding of nutrition, food production, healthy living, the natural environment and strengthens their ties to their community.

Acta Non Verba seeks a motivated and talented individual who will play a major role in advancing the organization’s mission. The Youth Program Coordinator plans and executes youth program curriculum, under the supervision of the Youth Program Director, and supports implementation of engaging, developmentally‑appropriate educational enrichment curriculum and programming in ANV’s various youth programs. This position contributes to the research and planning that goes into developing the Camp programming, and helps lead and supervise seasonal camp staff. The Youth Program Coordinator is also responsible for designing and maintaining the youth program registration system, processing camperships, and assisting the Youth Program Director with hiring and onboarding of seasonal camp staff. The Youth Program Coordinator will report to the Youth Program Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Youth Programs (General) (20%)

Fill in for any youth program staff who call out sick or are on vacation (ASP/NLLP/Camp)

Coordinate youth program registration system through Planning Center (ASP, NLLP, and Camp)

Process Campership applications and communicate with families about their application status

Provide direction and assistance to the Youth Programs team

Attend weekly check‑ins with Youth Program Manager to discuss youth program team priorities and task list

Camp (50%)

Execute the planning and implementation of Spring and Summer Camp while Youth Program Director/Manager is out on leave, including:

Recruit, Interview and hire summer staff and instructors

Planning camp schedule for up to 150 youth

Attending all OUSD summer learning program meetings

Attending the ACA Conference

Maintaining correspondence and camperships via campanv@anvfarm.org email

Creating registration system and promoting programs to encourage family registrations

Planning and coordinating camp field trips

During camp season, be on‑site every day for an 8‑hour shift

Supervise Camp Counselors, Instructors, and Junior Counselors

Communicate with camp families about disciplinary issues and other questions

Lead and support Junior and Day Camp Counselors in daily camp processes; provide behavioral support to Camp Counselors

Work directly with the Camp Director to organize and execute weekly staff and camp schedule

Assist Camp Director with camp evaluation, including administering camper, family, and staff surveys, and providing written performance evaluations for seasonal staff

ASP (30%)

Be on‑site at ASP Monday through Thursdays, and other days as needed:

Walk to pick up students from participating schools (Acorn Woodland Elementary School, EnCompass Academy, RISE Community School, New Highland Academy)

Tutor and keep youth on task during homework completion time

Develop and implement program procedures to ensure well‑being of all participants

Observe, monitor, and participate in children’s homework and enrichment activities

Promote a safe and healthy environment based on program safety standards

Efficiently redirect inappropriate student behaviors and implement discipline system

Support emotional and social development of the children

Report concerns and questions regarding the program to the Youth Program Director

Maintain accurate records: attendance, timesheets, incident reports, and other paperwork for compliance

Help prepare snacks for children and clean kitchen/snack area

Assist in cleaning room and equipment before, during, and after program

Assist other Youth Program Coordinators with ASP outreach and registration system

Work cooperatively as a team member, communicating and contributing information continually

Assist other coordinators in addressing ongoing needs of students and parents

Attend weekly ASP meetings (Mondays at noon)

Volunteer recruitment, coordination, and training as needed

Perform other duties as assigned

Previous experience teaching, tutoring, or youth development

Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior

Clear and timely communication across multiple channels (emails, calls, text, in‑person)

Enjoy being with students and fostering academic, social, emotional, and physical development

Spanish fluency desired but not required

Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills

Ability to lead diverse teams in virtual, in‑person, and dispersed settings

Strong personal motivation, initiative, follow‑through, and commitment

Must pass background check

Knowledge and Skills

Clear and timely communication across multiple channels (emails, calls, text, in‑person)

Enjoy being with students and fostering academic, social, emotional, and physical development

Spanish fluency desired but not required

Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills

Additional Requirements

Occasional irregular hours will be required

Individual work around anti‑racist practices is required

First Aid/CPR Training (ANV can provide)

Fingerprinting/Background Check (appropriate paperwork will be given; costs covered by Acta Non Verba)

TB Test & Up‑to‑date Vaccines (must submit health history and immunization record before first day)

Food Handler’s Safety Card (ANV can provide)
