Responsibilities
Greeting patients, answering phones and scheduling appointments
Collecting accurate patient demographics
Answering phones promptly and courteously
Insurance verification
Referral processing
Charge entry and patient balance processing; daily reconciliation of charges and payments
Providing assistance or explaining procedures to callers or in face‑to‑face situations with concern
Maintaining friendly, courteous, helpful, and considerate interactions with patients, public, physicians and other personnel
Managing, copying, and reviewing medical records to ensure accuracy
Coordinating daily operations of the physician office: medical records process, patient and physician scheduling, overseeing the front desk, confirming appointments, and ordering office supplies
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
5 years of experience in a physician practice preferred
Completion of a Medical Office Assistant program preferred
Healthcare management/administration certification preferred
EMR/EHR experience preferred (NextGen or Athena)
Proficiency in a Windows environment with working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and the Internet – required
Willingness to be flexible and adaptable in a complex, matrix environment
