Prepares food for patients and customers; cleans and sanitizes all cooking equipment, eating utensils, tableware and flatware; cleans and sanitizes work areas. Assembles and delivers patient trays to units and/or patients following C‑I‑Care and infection control procedures. May work in cafeteria, at coffee cart and operate a cash register.

Essential Functions

Prepare salads, sandwiches, desserts and other cold food items following standardized food recipes.

Comply with Portion Control Standard according to departmental policy.

Follow HACCP Food Safety Guidelines.

Clean and operate equipment efficiently and safely.

Perform tray line service – ensures the appearance of the tray and arrangement is aesthetically pleasing and service is accurate and efficient.

Prepare and deliver floor stocks and nourishment on a timely basis.

Perform meal service – ensures cafeteria meal service starts on time, food is displayed attractively in the steam tables, salad bar and sandwich bar, cafeteria is kept clean and orderly during operation, cash is taken correctly, and food is kept at a safe temperature throughout service time.

Perform dish room operation according to departmental standard.

Job Qualifications Education

High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

Experience

Six months of experience in food production in a hospital or similar setting preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

Food Handler card due within 2 weeks of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Excellent customer service skills.

Cash handling and cash register experience helpful.

Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Ability to push, pull and lift 50 pounds.

Available to work varied shifts.

Ability to prioritize work assignments and use time efficiently.

Ability to work effectively as a team player.

Knowledge of and the ability to use kitchen and general cleaning materials and equipment.

Knowledge of basic food preparation practices, common table setting, and the ability to learn the methods and procedures of a large‑scale kitchen.

Base Pay Scale Generally starting at $28.84 – $37.08 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
