Environmental Analyst-Limnology
The State Hygienic Laboratory at the University of Iowa (Iowa's Environmental and Public Health Laboratory) has multiple Environmental Analyst openings in the Ankeny Laboratory and Coralville Laboratory. These are six‑month term appointments and will run from approximately
May/June 2026 through October/November 2026.
THIS IS A FULL TIME, SIX-MONTH TERM POSITION. This position does not offer accommodations.
LOCATIONS:
Ankeny and Coralville, Iowa
SCHEDULE:
M-F 7:00am-3:30pm.
PAY:
$20 per hour.

JOB DUTIES
Collecting water, biological, and wastewater samples from rivers, streams, lakes, and industries and performing various analyses on samples in the field and laboratory.
Extensive travel across Iowa may be required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION
The candidate should have or be pursuing a bachelor's degree in biology, Ecology, Animal Ecology, Environment Science, or a related discipline with an emphasis in aquatic science or fisheries.
Must have good verbal and written communication skills and a valid driver's license.
DESIRED SKILLS
Experience with collection of surface water samples, wastewater samples, routine analytical procedures, electrofishing, and invertebrate collection.
Employment contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
References will be requested and verification of a valid state or commercial driver's license, and ability to meet University Fleet Safety Standards.
