Account Executive (Renewable Energy)

What is the role? As an Account Executive at Howden US, you’ll be the trusted advisor for a portfolio of clients across the natural resources industries with a focus in renewable energy. You’ll blend technical expertise, relationship management, and strategic thinking to deliver exceptional service and drive retention. Working closely with producers, underwriters, and internal support teams, you will manage a portfolio of renewable energy accounts (solar, wind, hydro, geothermal and biomass), ensuring all aspects of coverage, renewals, claims, and policy servicing are handled with accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities Client Relationship
Collaborate with producers and placement team on both prospects and active clients
Serve as the primary day‑to‑day contact for a designated book of renewable energy clients
Build trust and maintain strong client relationships
Oversee Brokers, Client Managers and Client Analyst on assigned accounts to ensure an accurate and professional work product at all levels
Pro‑active communication on market changes and emerging risk
Be a client advocate that works to solve problems and bring the right resources to the table
Attend client meetings (virtually or in person) as required
Support cross‑functional initiatives including process improvement, training, and thought leadership
Identify opportunities to provide additional products or services to clients
Market Relationships
Maintain relationships with key renewable energy markets, including the MGA’s
Monitor market trends and regulatory changes to proactively advise clients
Coordination of Renewal Process with Broker
Responsible for developing the renewal strategy (in conjunction with broking teams) for assigned accounts, including preparing and delivering the Pre‑Renewal Strategy Presentation to the client
Facilitate broker/marketing results in accordance with agreed strategy
Communicate renewal results to client
Prospect and develop new account opportunities
Develop and coordinate with internal Howden resources outside of Natural Resources to understand and promote value added client servicing opportunities
Qualifications Experience
Minimum 5+ years of experience as a broker specializing in renewable energy clients
Licensing
Active Property & Casualty insurance license (U.S. state‑specific)
Skills
Strong understanding of insurance products and market dynamics
Exceptional customer service and communication skills, able to explain complex coverages
Self‑motivated, collaborative, action‑oriented, strong organizational skills
Strong attention to detail and priority management
Ability to assess client needs
Ability to manage multiple accounts and renewals efficiently
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Compensation and Benefits The expected base salary range for this role is $200,000–$250,000, depending on experience and location.
In addition to a competitive base salary, employees are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus. Howden also offers a variety of benefits and programs, subject to eligibility, including:
