Position Summary This employee will fabricate and assemble structural metal products such as framework or shells for machinery, ovens, tanks, stacks, and metal parts for buildings and bridges.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop layout and plans sequence of operations.
Locate and mark bending and cutting lines onto workpiece.
Set up and operate fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, and drill presses.
Hammer, chip, and grind workpiece to cut, bend, and straighten metal; preheat workpieces.
Position, align, fit, and weld parts together.
Design and construct templates and fixtures.
Verify conformance of workpiece to specifications.
Fabricate and assemble sheet metal products.
Set up and operate machine tools associated with fabricating shops such as radial drill press, end mill, and edge planer.
Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Experience or Training (FR)
One to three months related experience and/or training.
Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands Regularly required to stand; occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
