Administrative Specialist I (Admissions Clerk) – Cherry Hospital
Join the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services at Cherry Hospital as an Administrative Specialist I (Admissions Clerk). This role involves managing admissions processes, documenting patient information, and supporting the nursing and medical staff.
Responsibilities
Process admission referrals and new admissions.
Gather demographic information from patients, families, and referral sources.
Create and maintain medical records and enter data into state/hospital databases.
Assist nurses, psychiatrists, and physicians with admission paperwork.
Respond to inquiries about admission procedures and provide information to inquirers.
Maintain record‑keeping systems, including admission logs, census reports, and movement reports.
Communicate with various hospital departments.
Work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications & Skills
High school diploma or GED plus two years of related administrative experience (or equivalent).
Excellent data entry skills and accuracy.
Strong organizational and attention‑to‑detail abilities.
Proficiency with office equipment and database systems.
Previous experience in an emergency admissions department (medical or psychiatric) preferred.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Notary Public license or willingness to obtain one.
