Job Summary
Class A CDL Route Driver at Darling Ingredients. Responsible for operating a grease collection truck to collect used cooking oil and/or a fat and bone collection truck for removal and collection of raw material(s) from customer locations, then returning to our East Earl facility.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
Pump grease containers; ensure cleanliness of container and surrounding area; lock and secure container with screen, lid, and lock; note any damages to container or corral area; properly complete route ticket with customer signature.
Empty customer's grease trap by pumping trap contents into attached tank; ensure cleanliness of trap area; clean spilled grease if necessary.
For fat and bone removal routes, collect and inspect raw material(s) at time of pickup for any foreign or hazardous material at customer location (local routes, some overnight).
Maintain an electronic DOT log; paper log only if electronic log book is inoperable.
Provide customer with receipt of pickup and obtain signature of management at location.
Maintain company vehicle; keep vehicle clean; operate vehicle in accordance with company, federal, state, and local regulations.
Conduct all safety checks and inspections of vehicle; conduct daily pre‑trip/post‑trip inspections as instructed.
Complete vehicle condition report daily; operate under all company safety standards.
Maintain excellent customer relations by providing professional service at all times.
Complete all company required paperwork in accordance with company policies (route tickets, driver vehicle inspection reports, accident reports, mileage reports, service forms, fuel forms, scale forms, etc.) daily.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be 21 years of age.
High school diploma or GED.
Valid Class A CDL with a tanker endorsement.
One year of experience required.
Registered on https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior route experience within a customer‑oriented environment preferred.
Experience with truck hydraulics a plus.
Communicates clearly in verbal and written form.
Highly organized; superior time management skills.
Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations; adaptable to changing situations.
Good driving record.
Ability to work well with internal staff and external customers.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
Physical Demands
Constantly required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
Frequently required to sit for extended periods while driving.
Regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
Occasionally push, pull up to 200 lbs.
Frequently must push, pull, move or lift up to 75 lbs. repeatedly.
