Overview
Buyer responsibilities include obtaining requirements for items such as cardboard and pallets, verifying and preparing purchase orders, verifying receipt of items, authorizing payment, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Compensation
Starting Pay Rate: $26 - $27 per hour (depending on experience)
Responsibilities
Initiate and create purchase orders by comparing items on hand to requirements.
Verify and inventory stock.
Schedule deliveries.
Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and price, obtaining substitute‑item recommendations, and securing required approvals.
Forward orders to suppliers, monitor, and expedite delivery.
Verify receipt of items, resolving shipment errors with suppliers.
Authorize payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.
Maintain records by sorting and filing documents.
Provide purchasing planning and control information through data collection, analysis, and trend summaries.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
At least 2 years of experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
High school diploma or GED.
Reading, writing, and basic math skills.
Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication skills with employees, management, and customers.
Prior purchasing and inventory experience preferred.
Self‑managing with strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
