Finish Grinding Operator (1st Shift)

Position Summary:
This entry level position with on the job training is responsible for the safe operation of burr grinders, hand tools, and other light bench equipment to clean and remove welds, nicks, and burrs from precision castparts.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Learn specified codes specific to our manufacturing process
Selects and mounts proper tool in burr grinder; determines what to remove by belt cleanup
Learns to use measuring equipment i.e. caliper, micrometer
Accurately completes traveler (paperwork) as required, submits timely for review
Carefully transports finished pieces to next operation area
Understand and acts upon instructions provided on job assignments and equipment
Follows established housekeeping and safety practices to maintain a quality work environment
Performs related work requiring equal or lesser skill as directed
Experience & Education Requires the ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions normally acquired by completion of high school of GED. Training is on the job.

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, read, follows and interprets instructions on technique cards, code sheets as well as other verbal or written instructions.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Ability to maintain order and chain of custody on parts.
Desired Skills
Sincere desire to learn and broaden their knowledge base thereby increasing their value to the company.
Minimum 3 months of deburr or grind experience preferred; familiar with basic foundry procedures.
Focus on results, timely completion and quality; Attention to detail and accuracy – precision oriented.
Prior work with grinders or manipulation of metal requiring hand‑eye coordination, fine finger dexterity.
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull 15–25 pounds frequently.
Metal manufacturing experience preferred.
